This one is all about wheelbarrows. In specific, the Chinese center wheel barrow.
In ingenious idea at least 1000 years old, the center-wheel barrow carries all of the load, rather than some percentage of it, like the western style front wheel barrow. With an extreamly large wheel, it could manage rough terrain quite well. Aided by the fact that the driver need only balance and propel the barrow forward, rather than labor to carry weight, the cart was exceptionally manouverable.
Truely a fascinating read, and a great starting point for a project in physics and engineering classrooms.
